• Is It Worth Marketing On Twitter?

Not too long ago, it was hard to dismiss the buzz online about Twitter marketing tools. Twitter was viewed as a good new way of getting a list of people whom you could target to sell your products. But the question is, were any of those tools that were introduced, actually doing you any good? We will discuss Twitter marketing and whether or not it is worth your time and expense as part of your IM strategy. Investigate the following list of social networks to help you.

Like many of you, when all the tools came out to help people build a huge Twitter following that you could promote to, I decided to look into it. I ended up purchasing and signing up for programs that would get me followers and programs that would basically advertise my products for me. In total, I think I bought about 8 software programs to help with my Twitter marketing venture.

I purchased a program that would automatically follow people for me in an attempt to get them to follow me back. Those who were not following me on Twitter would be automatically removed from my follow list by another program I had paid for. This way I could be following other people who might follow me back. Together with some other tools that are not actually worth noting, I bought a program that would automatically take my blog posts and automatically Tweet them as soon as they were published on my blog. I must say that the combined effect of utilizing all these software together produced great results because each program did as advertised. Nonetheless, my exhilaration was quickly squashed when I realized that I wasn’t generating any money. I would post to my blog 10 times each day and those posts would be shown directly on Twitter just like they are supposed to. Thinking that more blog posts would increase my blog traffic, I arranged for my daily blog posts to be made automatically both to my blog and to Twitter also.

Okay, allow me to tell you all about my results. After three years using these Twitter marketing tools, I had amassed about 10,000 Twitter followers. You’d probably be very pleased to gain that number of followers, but there’s more to come. During those three years I had affiliate links to my products on no less than 15,000 blog posts in my Twitter account. My blog posts displaying on Twitter was the only sort of advertising for that blog I did and to determine the effectiveness of Twitter I did not even ping new posts as they were published. Well I found, in the last 3 years I generated 2 affiliate sales for a total of $48, and I generated $8.52 with Adsense. And that particular blog only gets about 2 to 4 visitors a day from Twitter.

Despite me making use of programs to make the job simpler and getting approximately 10,000 followers on Twitter, I still could not turn a decent profit using Twitter marketing for my blog. At the end of the day I’m now out of cash for the Twitter software tools I bought because my dollar return was so small. So in my opinion, while there may be good ways to advertise on Twitter, investing in the automatic softwares are not the way to go.
